Awareness concept
The awareness concept of the Queer Center Kassel is divided into two areas. There is a more detailed concept and guide to action, which awareness persons in particular can refer to, and this notice on the topic of awareness, which, together with the etiquette, is intended to promote mindful behavior in the Queer Center.
What is awareness?
Awareness means paying attention to yourself and others. We want to work together to ensure that as many people as possible can participate in the Queer Center. To do this, it is important that we know what we need from each other in order to participate. We communicate our needs and requirements and take responsibility for them. We support each other as much as possible in meeting the needs and requirements of our group.
Awareness at the Queer Center Kassel
What does the Queer Center do?
At the beginning of events and group meetings, it is pointed out who can be approached for awareness issues in this context. In addition, the rules of etiquette and the self-image of the Queer Center Kassel apply.
We can also refer to the guide “You, Me, Us, and These Structures”. This guide offers approaches for dealing with a variety of situations. The guide is available in simple and complex German. With this combination of tools, it is possible to work together to create a constructive environment.
What can you do?
If you experience or witness an unpleasant situation at the Queer Center, for example:
your boundaries are crossed or you witness an incident of harassment
you encounter something in the rooms that you did not expect or that was not adequately announced
you experience or witness a discriminatory situation or discriminatory behavior
then we invite you to contact us. You can send an email to awareness at QueeresZentrumKassel dot de. This email address is read by the Awareness Team and no one else has access to it.
If a member of the Awareness Team is involved in the situation and you feel uncomfortable writing to them, please contact the staff: Write to fred.stecher at QueeresZentrumKassel. dot de or TristanMarie at QueeresZentrumKassel dot de with the subject line “Awareness.” These email addresses are managed by Fred and Tristan Marie and no one else has access to them.
Seek the support you need. We take your concerns seriously even if they are not communicated directly by you, but by a support person. In an emergency, please contact the following points of contact.
Even if they are on site and therefore “easier to reach,” awareness persons are not automatically emergency medical technicians, psychologists, or bouncers. In emergencies, please call the appropriate emergency numbers.
