Queers 50+

Second Thursday of the month, 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., in the entire Queer Center

On this evening, the Queer Center Kassel belongs to queers aged 50 and over!
All rooms in the center are available for chatting, chilling, playing, enjoying drinks, being creative, meeting people, making plans, reading books and magazines, and much more... Drinks and snacks are available for a donation or you can bring your own.

By being queer, we mean that we do not conform to cis-hetero norms and lifestyles. Are you also over 50 (or will you be soon?), do you identify as queer, and do you live beyond cis-heteronormativity? Then you might want to stop by on Thursday! See you soon!

If you would like to participate, it is important that you familiarize yourself with the Queer Center's self-image and etiquette and ensure that you can stand behind them.

Queer and Neurodivergent

Second Friday of the month, 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., chill room (yellow door)

Welcome to our community!

All neurodivergent individuals who identify as queer, live beyond cisheteronormativity, and are interested in connecting, sharing, and networking, are invited.

This is what neurodivergence means to us:

  • Feelings, perceptions, and needs fall outside the framework that society considers “normal.”

  • People often receive medical diagnoses such as autism, ADHD, ADD, learning difficulties, epilepsy, mental illness, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, apraxia, cerebral palsy, dyspraxia, etc. (see nibi.space/neurodivergence)

  • People do not need a diagnosis to be welcome here.

  • People do not have to be “sure” that they are neurodivergent; a suspicion or question in this direction is enough. Talking to other neurodivergent people can sometimes be helpful in gaining more certainty about whether or not this term describes their experience.

There are several rooms on site, including a quiet room. We will provide stimming toys. Please write us to let us know what you need to participate!

Often our meetings happen like this:

-short introduction and check in round (How are you here today?)

-Exchange about different topics concerning neurodivergence and queerness. This can happen in one big group or multiple smaller groups. Feel free to bring your own topic!

-check out round (how was the meeting for you?)

-communal tidying and cleaning

Plenary Session for Exchange and Discussion

on July 13 we talk about moving and possible new rooms

on August 10 we talk about our appearance in Social Media

Plenary Session - Mondays from 7:15 p.m., hybrid: Zoom and the yellow room

We discuss and decide together what’s happening at the Queer Center. To do this, we meet once a week for a plenary session. Here, people report on past and upcoming events, and we talk about challenges and goals for the Queer Center. Everyone who is interested is invited to the plenary session.

On the second Monday of the month we take our time for excange and discussion
We discuss topics that are on our minds. For example, what values we share and what that means for everyday life at the Queer Center.

Here’s roughly how our plenary meeting unfolds:

We meet in a hybrid format. We’ll send you the link via email beforehand. At the Queer Center, we use the Yellow Room. We start and end on time. It’s okay to leave early. If the meeting runs longer than expected, we’ll ask beforehand if people have time for it.

We’re always happy to welcome new people to the plenary session. That’s why we start each session with a brief round of introductions where people also share how they’re feeling at the moment. After that, we discuss the topics of the day.

Since June 2026, We are trying out a new plenary structure. We set different priorities for the plenaries. People decide for themselves where they want to participate or if they’d rather not attend the plenary session.

Would you like to join the plenary session? Then just come to the Queer Center on time or send an email to: info at QueeresZentrumKassel dot de for the Zoom access details.

Inquiries and Events

First Monday of the month: 7:15–8:15 PM, hybrid in the Yellow Room and on Zoom
This is where new groups introduce themselves and we discuss proposals for new projects. Everyone is welcome to share their thoughts. We vote on whether ideas will be implemented at the Queer Center. Only Queer Center members present at the meeting are eligible to vote.
Please send your request in advance via email to Fred or Tristan Marie.
They’d be happy to meet with you ahead of the plenary session to clarify whether and how your idea would be possible at the Queer Center.

Time for exchange and discussion

Second Monday of the month: 7:15–8:45 PM, hybrid in the yellow room and on Zoom
Here we discuss topics that are on our minds.
For example, what values we share and what that means for everyday life at the Queer Center.

Work planning

Third Monday of the month: 7:15–8:15 PM, hybrid in the yellow room and on Zoom
Here, the employees talk about how they use their work time and receive feedback from the plenary.
If there’s a lot on the agenda, we decide together how to set priorities.
Volunteers can also share how they spend their time at the Queer Center.

Time for Feelings and Social Dynamics

forth Monday of the month: 7:15–8:45 p.m., hybrid in the Yellow Room and on Zoom
Here we talk about how we’re feeling about each other and the Queer Center right now. We resolve conflicts with one another and show each other appreciation. Are there any uncertainties or conflicts that we, as a whole group of committed people, should discuss? What about the Queer Center brings us joy or causes us concern?
Afterward, all volunteers and interested individuals are invited to wind down the evening together in a relaxed atmosphere.

Pause

There is no plenary meeting on the fifth Monday of the month

menpoint

second Monday of the month, 7:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m., *innen space

Target group:
This offer is aimed at gay and bisexual men of ages 20 and above from Kassel city and the surrounding area who want to get together in a relaxed and safe environment away from the party and restaurant scene.

Group content:
This group serves as a place to meet and exchange ideas with other gay and bisexual men in similar life circumstances and emotional worlds in a safe environment, and to experience that you are not alone with your feelings and fears, or that you don't have to cope with them and hide them. The group meets for themed discussion evenings (e.g., coming out; socio-political position and acceptance, for example within the family or circle of friends; etc.) and joint visits to cultural events.
The founders see the group as autonomous and independent, far removed from organizational structures—there are no membership fees. Menpoint is not a dating platform.

Background: How it all began with “menpoint”
Once upon a time, there was a man somewhere. One day, he decided to start coming out. However, it took another six months before he opened up to his colleagues at work. And so it came about that one of his colleagues made contact with men who volunteered at the “Gay Counseling Center in Kassel.” The three of them got together to get to know each other and make plans. Together, they outlined enough topics and discussion points to last for six months of meetings. This attempt was to last six months in any case. A meeting place for men. A meeting point for men. That's how Menpoint came about. That was in February 2013 – so Menpoint has been around for over 10 years now.

Do you have any questions for Menpoint? Then send an email to: menpoint-kassel@gmx.de

Working Group: Social Media

What should our social media presence look like? Let’s brainstorm together!

Under the theme “Between Politics, Entertainment, and Funders: What Role Should Social Media Play in the Queer Center’s Self-Image?” we want to work together to shape how we, as the Queer Center, want to present ourselves to the public. Let’s figure this out together.

What do we want to share, and what don’t we? How confrontational do we want to be? Who do we want to reach? These are just a few of the many questions whose answers we want to work out together in a structured way.

The plenary session will take place online on July 14 at 6 p.m. and is open to full-time staff, volunteers, and anyone who feels this topic applies to them. Please register for this event at lola [at] queereszentrumkassel.de.

Last Monday of odd months, 7:15 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. at the Queer Center

Taster Plenary Session

We discuss and decide together what is happening at the Queer Center. To this end, we meet once a week for an hour-long plenary session. Here, people report on past and planned events, and we talk about challenges and goals for the Queer Center. At the Taster Plenary Session, we take care to explain how our plenary sessions work, what we talk about, and what unwritten rules of conduct there are.
If you want to join online, please check with us beforehand.

This is how our plenary session works:
The meetings last one hour and it's okay to leave early.
We start with a short round of introductions where people also say how they are feeling at the moment.

We vote on whether ideas should be implemented at the Queer Center. Only Queer Center association members who are present are eligible to vote.

Plenary Session for Inquiries and Eventideas

Mondays from 7:15 p.m., hybrid: Zoom and the yellow room

We discuss and decide together what’s happening at the Queer Center. To do this, we meet once a week for a plenary session. Here, people report on past and upcoming events, and we talk about challenges and goals for the Queer Center. Everyone who is interested is invited to the plenary session.

On the first Monday of the month we talk about Inquiries and Eventideas
This is where new groups introduce themselves and we discuss proposals for new projects. Everyone is welcome to share their thoughts. We vote on whether ideas will be implemented at the Queer Center. Only Queer Center members present at the meeting are eligible to vote.
Please send your request in advance via email to Fred or Tristan Marie.
They’d be happy to meet with you ahead of the plenary session to clarify whether and how your idea would be possible at the Queer Center.
