Colorful Threads

Colorful Threads is a meetup
for people who are queer
and also disabled or chronically ill.

Queer used to be a swear word.
Today, some people say:
I am queer and proud of it.
For example:
Women who love women.
Men who love men.
People who love people.
People who do not fall in love.
People who do not feel sexual attraction.
People who are not just women or men.
Intersex people
Transgender people

This is what we do at the meeting:
We talk to each other
and sew or do other handicrafts.
You decide for yourself what you want to do.
It's okay if you just come to talk.
Or just to do handicrafts.
Or both.

Talking to each other

You will meet more queer people.
They are also disabled, crazy, or chronically ill.
You talk about handicrafts, for example.
Or about your experiences.
Or about how you can be strong together with others.

Sewing and handicrafts

Here's what you can do at the meeting:
Repair your clothes.
Or make them more beautiful.
Sew a pillow.
Or something else.
You decide what you want to do.
Want to know how to do something?
Then Tristan Marie will show you.

Food

There is also food.
The Queer Center prepares food.
It is vegan and gluten-free.
Would you like to bring and share food?
It doesn't have to be vegan or gluten-free.
The important thing is to write down the ingredients.
That way, others will know what's in the food.

Rooms

There are several rooms at the Queer Center:
There is a large room for everyone.
And a retreat room.
You can be alone there.
And there are two more rooms.
You can sew or talk there.

Dates

We meet every two months
on weekends
from 12 noon to 4 p.m.
The next meetings are
Saturday, March 14, 2026
Sunday, May 10, 2026
Saturday, July 18

Location

The meeting is at the Queer Center.
It is located at Mauerstraße 11
in Kassel.
At the Mauerstraße bus stop.
There is an elevator to the Queer Center.
Take it to the 5th floor.
Then turn left into the hallway.
The Queer Center is at the end of the hallway.

Is this your first time at the Queer Center
and would you like to be picked up at the bus stop?
Then send an email to TristanMarie @ QueeresZentrumKassel . de.

Please do not come if you are acutely ill.
For example, if you have a cold.

Information in complex language

The Queer Center has a handicraft café called Bunte Fäden (Colorful Threads) for disabled, mad, and chronically ill queers. About every two months, it offers opportunities to chat, do handicrafts, and have brunch.

Chat

You will get to know more queer people who are disabled, mad or chronically ill. You can talk about your creative projects, share experiences and develop ideas together on how queer or disabled communities can become more inclusive.

Handicrafts

You can repair and embellish items or create something new. It doesn't matter if you already know how to sew, embroider, or mend, because Tristan Marie will be happy to assist you with advice and support.

Food

The Queer Center will prepare a cold buffet. The food is vegan and gluten-free. You are also welcome to bring something for the buffet. It does not have to be vegan or gluten-free. Please list the ingredients.

Flow of events

You are welcome to come and go as you please. You decide what you want to do. It's okay if you just come to chat or even just to do handicrafts. Tristan Marie is there to answer your questions about handicrafts.

Rooms

There are several rooms in the Queer Center: a large room for everyone, a retreat room for people who need some quiet time, and two rooms that we can use as we need them.
You can find more information about the rooms here.

Dates

Bunte Fäden takes place roughly every two months on a Saturday or Sunday from 12 noon to 4 p.m. The next dates for Bunte Fäden are:
